What Women Really Need…

Beauty in nature

Sue here….

As women we need more nourishment, space, and time for ourselves. Do you take this time, or are you always in depletion?

When we’re younger, we can push ourselves and get away with it. We override the whispers of fatigue. We say yes when we mean no. We move faster than our bodies want to go. And for a while… it works.

But then something shifts.

Maybe it’s your energy.
Maybe it’s your patience.
Maybe it’s that quiet voice that’s getting harder to ignore.

Here’s a true story about me……many of you know I’m what Ayurveda calls a Pitta - full of fire! And as someone who has a lot of fire, I also have a lot of drive and determination.

One day last week, I went to the gym to workout. I had already had a busy day working, so this would feel good to release some energy. So I pushed a little harder with the weights, working more to 100% of my effort. So I was tired (actually depleted) when I got home!

So how did this hard workout show up when I was already depleted from a busy day? Anger! Yep anger - a common symptom of a pitta imbalance. There was no ability for me to self regulate at that time. All I could do was rest, and allow my body to find balance once again.

Mountain Medicine

As we grow older, we’re reminded—sometimes gently, sometimes not—that we need something different now. More space between doing. More rest between giving. More listening instead of pushing.

And yet, many women keep going the same way.

Still taking care of everyone else.
Still putting themselves last.
Still believing that rest is something you can have—later.

But what if that “later” is now?

What if this season of your life isn’t asking you to do more… but to receive more?

To be nourished.
To be held.
To have time that is yours—without guilt, without responsibility, without the constant pull of what needs to be done next.

Because here’s the truth: depletion doesn’t suddenly turn into vitality on its own. It requires a shift. A pause. A conscious choice to step out of the noise and back into yourself.

That’s what retreating offers.

Not escape—but return.

A return to your breath.
To your body.
To a rhythm that feels human again.

Forest Bathing

Imagine waking up without rushing. Moving your body in a way that feels supportive, not demanding. Sitting in stillness and actually hearing yourself think. Eating meals that nourish you deeply. Walking in nature without needing to be anywhere else.

Imagine laughing, connecting, and also having permission to be quiet.

This isn’t indulgent.
It’s necessary.

Because when you give yourself space to reset your nervous system, everything shifts. Your energy returns. Your clarity sharpens. Your patience softens. You remember who you are underneath all the roles you’ve been carrying.

And from that place—you don’t just feel better.
You live differently.

So I’ll ask you again…

Are you taking this time for yourself?
Or are you still running on empty, hoping it will somehow refill?

There comes a point where waiting costs more than stepping away.

Maybe this is your moment to choose differently.
To take a pause.
To be nourished in the way you truly need.

Not someday.

Now.
