I’m Sue
Sue Schmitt - IAYT / AHC / AYS invites women to celebrate and honor their journey, especially as they age.
I have always been interested in health, fitness, wellness, and living life to the fullest.
We can't do that if we are distracted with dis-ease.
I started my journey in the medical world as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant. Working with an Osteopathic Physician, I soon realized there were easier, less invasive ways of dealing with illness.
This awareness inspired me to leave the medical profession and enter the world of wellness, as a Certified Health and Fitness Professional. My specialty was meeting people where they were, and helping them gain greater awareness of their own journey to health and wellness.
Later I began a deeper inquiry about my own health and the people I was currently working with which led me to yoga and becoming a Certified Yoga Teacher. I opened a boutique style yoga studio in Annapolis MD called Shakti Studio that was home for yoga classes, workshops, and educational programs.
As yoga became more integrated into my own work and lifestyle, I became increasingly aware of a system called Ayurveda. This ancient teaching helps us to understand how the body stays in or out of balance based on our daily choices. I became a Certified Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist blending the world of yoga with ayurveda. Becoming a Board Certified Ayurveda Health Counselor and C-AYT Yoga Therapist helps me to work 1 on 1 with individuals. This ongoing education and experience has given me the tools to support myself and others on a path to vibrant health and wellbeing.
I’m Chris
I started practicing yoga back in 1997, mostly just trying to deal with an old injury that wouldn’t go away. What began as a way to feel better physically turned into something much bigger—it changed how I relate to my body, my mind, and how I move through life. I completed my teacher training in 2001 and have been teaching and sharing yoga ever since.
Over time, I found myself wanting to understand more about the “why” behind how we feel—our energy, our habits, and how everything connects. That led me to Ayurveda, which felt like a natural extension of yoga. In 2012, I became a certified Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist through the Himalayan Institute, and in 2016 I went back to continue my studies and became a board-certified Ayurvedic Health Counselor through NAMA.
What I love most is helping people take these practices off the mat and into real life. I’m not about perfection or complicated routines—I’m about simple, sustainable habits that actually fit into your day. Whether it’s how you start your morning, how you unwind at night, or how you listen to your body a little more closely, those small shifts really add up.
My goal is to make yoga and Ayurveda feel approachable and useful, so you can use them as tools to support your energy, your health, and your overall sense of balance—without it feeling like another thing on your to-do list.
